Accessibility

Australian Government departments and agencies are required by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 to ensure that online information and services are accessible by people with disabilities.

In September 2012, a web accessibility evaluation was conducted on the website to test the main design features of the site for conformance with Level A and Level AA Success Criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2 (WCAG 2.0). As of 1 October 2012 the site meets level AA conformance for the global design elements.

Additional testing was performed on the website when a new design was applied in late 2009. Navigation

The website has three navigation features to help you find what you need.

Main navigation

On the top of the main content of every web page is the main navigation menu. This will display the topic areas for the website, contact details and related links.

Footer

At the bottom of each page you will find legal information regarding copyright, privacy and disclaimer. You will also find a link to the Prime Minister's site and a link that takes you to the top of the page.

Keeping track of where you have been

In the content area in the centre of each page links are indicated by the combination of underlining and blue text. Clicking on a link will change its colour from blue to purple to show that you have already visited it.

NBN rollout supporting local jobs and manufacturing in Victoria

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, has today officially opened a new section of a manufacturing facility in Clayton, Victoria, which is helping to create 400 jobs as it supports the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN).
