New Managing Director for Australia Post Appointed
The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, today congratulated Mr Ahmed Fahour on his appointment as Managing Director of Australia Post.
After an array of senior leadership roles in major corporations including NAB, Citigroup, Boston Consulting Group and most recently Gulf Finance House, Mr Fahour comes to Australia Post with a wealth of experience.
"Mr Fahour will be leading Australia Post through a period in which the communications industry is undergoing significant transformation, creating considerable opportunities for Australia Post," Senator Conroy said.
Mr Fahour has previously held positions including membership of the Prime Minister’s Social Inclusion Board, a Business Ambassador for Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs in Victoria (appointed by the Premier of Victoria) and a trustee of the Melbourne Cricket Ground of Victoria.
"I would like to thank Graeme John for his many achievements during a 16-year term as Managing Director of Australia Post," Senator Conroy said.
"He leaves Australia’s oldest institution in a strong financial position, and one that continues to play a vital role in stimulating local economies and connecting our local communities."
Senator Conroy wants to assure the community that Australia Post will not be taking up sponsorship of the Carlton Football Club.
