Outstanding contribution from Australia Post Managing Director

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, and Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner MP, today congratulated retiring Australia Post Managing Director, Graeme John, for his outstanding contribution.

"Graeme John has been a fantastic Managing Director of Australia Post and leaves a great legacy," Senator Conroy said.

"In a period of time when postal operators around the world have been in decline, Australia Post has successfully grown its business and it maintains a valued and profitable position in the national economy. This is largely due to Graeme’s outstanding leadership."

"Graeme John has made an outstanding contribution to Australia Post over the past 20 years," Mr Tanner said.

"Under Mr John’s leadership, Australia Post has performed impressively in financial terms and has developed into a dynamic organisation with the ability to embrace new technologies and respond quickly to market demands."

Australia Post today announced that Mr John will retire in December. He joined Australia Post as Chief Manager National Operations in 1990 and was appointed Managing Director in 1993.

"Australia Post is one of the country’s largest employers and plays a vital role in stimulating local economies and connecting our local communities. Mr John should be immensely proud of all his achievements during his time at Australia Post and I personally wish him well for his future endeavours," Mr Tanner said.

"Graeme has successfully led the transformation of Australia Post to become a major logistics player and one of the world’s leading postal operators. I would like to congratulate Graeme for his great contribution to Australia Post and wish him the very best for the next phase of his professional life," Senator Conroy said.
