McKinsey-KPMG appointed Lead Advisor for National Broadband Network
McKinsey-KPMG has been appointed as Lead Advisor for the National Broadband Network Implementation Study.
"The National Broadband Network is an historic nation-building infrastructure project and the Lead Advisor will provide important input to its implementation," the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy said.
"As Lead Advisor, McKinsey-KPMG will work closely with NBN Co Limited and its Executive Chair Mr Mike Quigley."
McKinsey-KPMG will provide advice on the National Broadband Network, including operating and governance arrangements for NBN Co Limited, ownership caps, ways to attract private sector investment, network design and ways to provide procurement opportunities for local businesses.
The Lead Advisor is a consortium of McKinsey & Company, a worldwide management consultancy firm and KPMG a global professional services firm. McKinsey and KPMG have experience in broadband, large-scale complex infrastructure projects and the telecommunications sector.
McKinsey-KPMG was one of nine respondents to a Request for Expression of Interest invited to submit a tender. The tenders received were of a very high standard reflecting the importance of the National Broadband Network project.
McKinsey-KPMG was selected for the role of Lead Advisor through a competitive open tender process by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, in conjunction with the Department of Finance and Deregulation.
The Implementation Study is expected to be completed in February 2010.
