Re-appointments to National Maritime Museum Council

The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the re-appointments of the Hon Brian Gibson AM, Ms Eda Ritchie and Mrs Nerolie Withnall to the Council of the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM).

“I am pleased all three members have agreed to a further three year term as they bring considerable expertise to the ANMM Council,” Senator Kemp said.

“Mr Gibson is chairman or director of a number of companies and organisations, including the Australian Stem Cell Centre and Environmental Oil Australia.”

“Ms Ritchie has a longstanding interest in maritime history, and is an active sailor with more than 30,000 sea miles experience. She is also a member of a number of cultural and other organisations in Victoria including the Melbourne University Council and the Ian Potter Museum of Art,”

Mrs Withnall is a consultant lawyer and former partner with the Minter Ellison law firm and is a member or director of a number of companies and organisations including the Queensland Museum Foundation and the National Seniors Foundation.

“Mrs Withnall’s experience in corporate governance, the law and business affairs will continue to be of valuable assistance to the Council,” Senator Kemp said.

The Maritime Museum’s mission is to bring maritime heritage to life and to preserve it for future generations.
