Re-appointment to Australia Council’s Dance Board
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the re-appointment of Jeff Meiners to the Australia Council’s Dance Board.
The Dance Board is responsible for supporting the development of Australian dance as a vibrant art form which is relevant and accessible to all communities.
“I would like to thank Mr Meiners for agreeing once again to work on the Australia Council’s Dance Board. I know his colleagues have appreciated his commitment to the Board and are pleased to be working with him again,” Senator Kemp said.
Mr Meiners is a lecturer at the University of South Australia where he teaches Movement, Play Curriculum and Arts Project Coordination. He has previously been the Manager of Outreach Projects at Ausdance New South Wales where he coordinated the Western Sydney and Northern Rivers Dance Action Projects.
Mr Meiners has taught widely across the country at various Australian Universities and has, most recently, been teaching in Portugal and England.
The Dance Board assists the creation, presentation and dissemination of high-quality, diverse and innovative dance and movement work. The Board has a responsibility to ensure that its contribution to the arts returns a benefit to artists, the community and the nation as a whole.
“Mr Meiners brings 20 years of experience in dance and dance education in the United Kingdom , Sydney and Adelaide to the Board. This experience and his ongoing involvement with the Dance Board will help ensure the Australia Council continues to make a valuable contribution to supporting dance in Australia,” Senator Kemp said.
The Australia Council is the Australian Government’s arts funding body. It encourages the creativity and development of Australian artists and aims to increase access by all Australians to arts and cultural activities.
