Australian Sports Commission Board appointment

The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the appointment of Mr Greg Hartung OAM to the Board of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

“I am delighted that Mr Hartung has agreed to work with the Australian Sports Commission for a two year term,” Senator Kemp said.

“Mr Hartung brings a wealth of experience in strategic sports planning, sports administration and sports program management.”

Mr Hartung has held directorships with various sporting boards and councils including the Australian Sports Foundation, Australian Coaching Council, Australian Yachting Federation and ACT Rugby Union.

He was General Manager of the Australian Sports Commission from 1984 to 1988. Mr Hartung is currently the President of the Australian Paralympic Committee and a Director of the International Paralympic Committee.

Mr Hartung is active in the business world as the Company Director and Principal of GNH Management. Previously, he has held positions with Access Communications and IPR Shandwick.

“Mr Hartung has proven leadership and business management skills with a background in journalism and I believe his skills, combined with his experience in the sporting industry, will make a valuable contribution to the operations of the ASC Board.” Senator Kemp said.
