Appointments to the Visions of Australia Committee
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the appointment of Ms Mary-Louise Williams and the re-appointment of Ms Narelle Vogel to the Visions of Australia Committee.
The committee guides the work of the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program which supports the development and touring of arts and cultural exhibitions around Australia.
“I am pleased that Ms Vogel has agreed to continue her contribution to the Visions of Australia Committee for a second term, and look forward to the additional expertise Ms Williams will bring in her role as Deputy Chair,” Senator Kemp said.
“These appointments will provide a valuable mix of experience and perspective from quite different sectors.”
Ms Williams is the Director of the Australian National Maritime Museum. In her work with the museum since 1988 she has been a Senior Curator and then Assistant Director of Collections and Exhibitions.
She has held a number of positions on national and state museum boards and committees, including Chair Museums and Galleries New South Wales from 2002–2005.
Ms Vogel is the Cultural Development Officer for the City of Albury. She has lectured at the Riverina Institute of TAFE (Albury campus) and the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (Wangaratta campus), was the Regional Arts Officer with the Regional Arts Board (Albury-Wodonga), General Manager of the Murray River Performing Group and Administrator of South Australia’s Mainstreet Theatre Company.
The Visions of Australia Committee assesses and makes recommendations on funding applications for touring exhibitions of cultural material. By supporting the development and touring of exhibitions the Visions program is increasing access for all Australians to the nation’s rich arts and cultural life.
