Visions of Australia funding announcement
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced funding of $772,377 for 14 exhibitions in the latest round of grants under the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program.
'Through Visions of Australia the nation's cultural collections are made more accessible to all Australians', Senator Kemp said.
The exhibitions cover a range of issues including:
- exploring police-Inspector Paul Foelsche's visual record of the Northern Territory's capital as it took shape from the 1870s-The Policeman's Eye: Paul Foelsche's Photography
- witty and revealing interpretations of the Australian political and social scene-A Brush with Politics: the work of John Frith.
- issues surrounding water usage in Australia-Just Add Water: Schemes and Dreams for a Sunburnt Country
- recognising the abilities of Australian women artists, Nora Heysen, Judy Cassab and Margaret Woodward-Drawn Together
The exhibitions will be seen in areas including Geraldton in Western Australia, Cairns in Queensland, Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Hobart in Tasmania, Bundoora in Victoria, Hay in New South Wales and Mt Gambier in South Australia.
'These latest touring exhibitions demonstrate the Australian Government's commitment to ensure as many Australians as possible are able to share in our artistic and cultural heritage,' Senator Kemp said.

Through the Visions of Australia program, the Australian Government provides assistance to museums, galleries, libraries, archives and community cultural organisations, to develop and tour exhibitions nationally.
