Regional arts funding for Tasmania
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the latest round of successful Tasmanian grants under the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund.
'The 16 projects will receive $96,321 in funding, providing greater access to cultural skills development,'' Senator Kemp said.
'The Australian Government is committed to ensuring that more groups, communities and individuals are able to participate in a range of cultural activities across Tasmania.'
Some of the initiatives supported in this round of funding are:
- Every Wrinkle Tells a Story - In partnership with Strathcare Nursing Homes and the Migrant Resource Centre, Kickstart Arts aims to hold music, theatre and writing workshops with older people.
- Initial Stage of the Citizen - Stompin Youth Dance Company and the Dorset Youth Advisory Group (DYAG) will work together to create opportunities for young people from the Dorset region to work with professional dance artists and other young people from Launceston.
- Master Classes with Elizabeth Navratil - Elizabeth, who was born with cerebral palsy, will hold six two-hour acting, directing and writing master classes involving Cosmos Troopadoors and other established performers from Northern and Southern Tasmania.
The Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund supports and encourages a wide range of arts and cultural activities that provide opportunities for widespread community development in regional Australia.
Tasmanian Regional Arts manages the Fund in Tasmania on behalf of the Australian Government. Assistance is available across all art forms for projects that promote excellence in regional arts development.
