New CEO for Film Australia
Federal Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today welcomed the appointment of Ms Daryl Karp as the new CEO of Film Australia Limited, effective from 12 July 2004.
'Ms Karp's extensive experience as an executive producer of documentaries and factual programs, combined with her background as an independent producer, will ensure that Film Australia continues to capture Australia's heritage through documentaries,' Senator Kemp said.
'An award-winning media executive, with an international reputation, Ms Karp brings her considerable managerial and editorial skillset to Film Australia.'
Ms Karp has worked with many of the leading documentary broadcasters around the world including Channel 4 and the BBC in the United Kingdom, the Discovery Channel, the Learning Channel and PBS in the United States, NHK in Japan and SBS and the ABC in Australia. She is currently the Head of Factual Programs at ABC Television.
'I congratulate Ms Karp on her appointment and look forward to the contributions she will make to Film Australia,' Senator Kemp said.

Film Australia Limited is an Australian Government-owned production and distribution company and is one of the nation's largest producers of television documentaries and educational programs. Its activities include production of the National Interest Program, marketing and distribution of documentary programs, and management of an extensive film archive.
