National Museum Council appointment
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the appointment of Ms Marian Gibney to the Council of the National Museum of Australia.
'Ms Gibney's significant experience, including as a board member, and valuable legal expertise will be greatly valued by the Council,' Senator Kemp said.
Ms Gibney is a lawyer with more than 20 years experience. Currently a Deputy General Counsel with ANZ Bank, from 1999 until 2003 she held the position of Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs with MIM Holdings Limited.
Prior to 1999, Ms Gibney held the position of General Manager Legal with MIM Holdings Limited. When in private practice, she was a partner in a Brisbane law firm. Ms Gibney has held a number of government sector board appointments, including membership of the Queensland Art Gallery Foundation Board.
The National Museum of Australia is an Australian Government Agency. Its purpose is to research Australian history, develop and maintain a national collection of historical material, create exhibitions and programs exploring our heritage and history, and to be accessible to all Australians.
