$2 MILLION TOWARDS KARDINIA PARK REDEVELOPMENT
I am pleased to announce today that a re-elected Coalition Government will provide $2 million towards Stage 2 of the Skilled Stadium Redevelopment plan at Kardinia Park, Geelong. The funding will be used for the development of the Geelong Legends Sporting Boulevard. The Boulevard will run through the centre of Kardinia Park and form the central axis for Geelong's main sporting hub. The Boulevard will be a public walking area for the local community and become a major tourist attraction.
"The Boulevard is to be a community focussed sport facility, and will be a celebration of Geelong's sporting legends, covering elite athletes and representing a full range of sports", said the Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp. "It is an exciting development, featuring interactive audiovisual material on each of the athletes represented."
"This funding will ensure that the precinct of the upgraded stadium and surrounding sporting facilities will meet 21st century standards", said the Member for Corangamite, Stewart McArthur MP. "It is yet another indication of the Coalition's commitment to the Geelong region."
This further investment in the region's future is only possible due to the Coalition's strong economic management over the last eight and a half years.
