The Passing of Wally Foreman

The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today offered his sincere condolences to the family of sports broadcaster and administrator Wally Foreman following his death in Perth this week.

“Wally Foreman was one of Australia’s most experienced and passionate sports commentators who made a great contribution to many aspects of Australian sport,” Senator Rod Kemp said.

“Wally will be remembered for the significant role he played in Australian sport particularly in the establishment of the Western Australian Institute of Sport as its inaugural director.

“Wally will be sadly missed, not only by those who worked with him and have benefited from his legacy at the Western Australian Institute of Sport, but also by those who have listened to his commentary on ABC sport for more than 30 years.” Senator Kemp said.
