National Museum of Australia Council member reappointed

The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the reappointment of Ms Sally Anne Hasluck to the National Museum of Australia Council for a three-year term.

“Ms Hasluck’s long museum career will continue to bring a useful perspective to the work of the council,” Senator Kemp said.

“Her reappointment will also help ensure continuity for the council’s work.”

Ms Hasluck is a museum consultant with a strong background in the community museum sector. She has been involved for many years in the development of new museums. Her expertise includes concept planning, strategic planning and collection management.

In 1974 Ms Hasluck was the inaugural curator of the Claremont Museum in Western Australia, where she was president of the Western Australia branch of the Museums Association.

In 1991 she was awarded an ANZAC Fellowship to study museums in New Zealand. She later served for seven years as a Trustee of the WA Museum.

The National Museum of Australia is funded by the Australian Government and plays an important role in providing Australians access to their history and cultural heritage. Information about the activities and role of the national museum is at www.nma.gov.au
