Increased funding announced for Bundanon Trust
The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced that the Australian Government will provide the Bundanon Trust, which manages a unique cultural and national asset on the New South Wales south coast, with funding of $6.0 million over four years from 2007–08. This represents an increased annual commitment from the Australian Government.
Established by the Australian Government in 1993, the Bundanon Trust manages the Bundanon and Riversdale properties and an art collection at the properties on the Shoalhaven River in south‑eastern New South Wales. The properties were gifted to the nation by artist Arthur Boyd and his wife Yvonne.
“This funding will ensure the continued development of Bundanon as a ‘living arts centre’ and as a significant national cultural institution where the creation and presentation of the visual and performing arts thrive, and contribute to research and education into the arts,” Senator Kemp said.
“The Bundanon Trust offers a diversity of artistic and public activities that are accessed by a wide range of people each year. Besides artists, the Bundanon Trust reaches school and tertiary students, disadvantaged young people, retired visitors and tourists.”
This funding includes $0.7 million over four years to enhance the Bundanon Trust’s collection management and marketing, and update its information technology and storage facilities.
