Australia Council Music Board appointment
The Federal Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the appointment of Professor Andrew Arthurs to the Australia Council’s Music Board.
Professor Arthurs has a distinguished career as a recording engineer, sound designer, composer and recording artist.
“I am confident Professor Arthurs will play a valuable role on the Music Board, sharing his experience, skills and knowledge in the music field,” Senator Kemp said today.
Professor Arthurs is currently Professor of Music and Head of Music and Sound at Queensland University of Technology. He is also an executive member of the Music Council of Australia, a board member of the Brisbane Powerhouse, and a member of the Steering Committee for the National Review of School Music Education.
Professor Arthurs has composed music for dance, film, television and multi-media. His recent compositions include songs for The Ten Tenors album Larger than Life and Tenology.
“I look forward to the contribution that Professor Arthurs will make as a new member of this Board,” Senator Kemp said.
The Australia Council is the Federal Government’s principal arts funding and advisory body. It encourages the creativity and development of Australian artists and aims to increase access by all Australians to arts and cultural activities.
