Telstra appoints new directors

The Government today welcomed Telstra's announcement of the appointment of two new Board members, Mr John Zeglis and Mr Peter Willcox.

Both new Board members bring a range of corporate experience and knowledge to Telstra.

Mr Zeglis' CV speaks for itself – with 20 years at AT&T, including five years as CEO and Chairman, he brings a wealth of knowledge on telecommunications, and mobile networks in particular, to the board table.

Mr Willcox has extensive experience on the boards of many of Australia 's top companies across a range of sectors, including as Chair of AMP Ltd and Mayne Pharma Ltd. He was also CEO of BHP Petroleum for eight years.

In accordance with Telstra's Constitution, the Chairman, Mr Donald McGauchie, recommended these appointments to the shareholder ministers who were pleased to indicate their approval.

We wish Mr Zeglis and Mr Willcox all the best in their new roles on the Telstra board.
