SBS Chair Reappointed

The Minister for Communications Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, today announced the reappointment of Carla Zampatti AM as Chair of the Board of the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) for a second five-year term.

"I am delighted that Carla Zampatti has accepted the invitation to continue in her role on the SBS Board," Senator Coonan said.

Carla Zampatti began her first term as Chair on the SBS Board in December 1999.

Ms Zampatti is the Executive Chairman of the Carla Zampatti Group. She holds directorships with Westfield Group and McDonald's Australia Limited, and is a Trustee of the Sydney Theatre Company Foundation Trust.

"The SBS is one of Australia's primary cultural institutions with a very significant and valued role to play in Australian broadcasting," Senator Coonan said.

"I am confident that Carla Zampatti will continue to make a valuable contribution to the SBS."

SBS is Australia's multicultural and multilingual public broadcaster.
