ICT secrets revealed

The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, last night recognised Australia’s most innovative ICT companies at the awards night for the fifth Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation competition.

Senator Coonan presented the 23 winning ICT companies with their awards at a function held at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. Prizes are awarded across seven categories.

“The competition is an important part of the Australian Government’s commitment to developing the ICT industry,” Senator Coonan said.

“Through the Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation competition, these outstanding companies will go on to gain valuable national and international exposure for their unique concepts.”

“Winning companies receive their choice of new IT equipment from competition sponsor Dell or a share in $105 000 worth of prizes designed to assist them to present their product at major events.”

“Previous winners have used their prize to promote their innovation in the United States, Canada, England, France, the Scandinavian countries and Asia. These international markets are hungry for new and innovative ICT products and solutions. Through initiatives such as this, Australia can continue to feed this need.”

“This competition would not be possible without the financial contribution of its government and corporate sponsors. I am particularly encouraged by the ongoing support from Cisco and Dell, who are sponsoring the competition for the second successive year.”

“Dell and Cisco’s support is a clear sign of their commitment to Australia’s ICT sector and the search for the next generation of innovation.”

The Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation competition is an initiative of the Committee Marketing ICT for Australia. It has received support from the state and territory governments, industry associations and research bodies.
