Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator George Brandis, today welcomed the finding by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) that Ian Thorpe has no case to answer over use of performance enhancing substances.
ASADA announced today it had closed its investigation into Ian Thorpe with the finding that he had no case to answer.
Senator Brandis congratulated ASADA on their thorough and comprehensive review of the Thorpe case.
Senator Brandis said all Australians will be delighted to know that Ian Thorpe’s name has been cleared.
“Ian Thorpe has been a magnificent role model to young Australians in particular, and has brought great honour to himself and to our country,” Senator Brandis said.
